九月九日[1]忆山东兄弟

独在异乡为异客，

每逢佳节倍思亲。

遥知兄弟登高[2]处，

遍插茱萸[3]少一人。




注释：

[1]九月九日：即重阳节，古时九为阳数，故九月九日为重阳。

[2]登高：登山，重阳节习俗之一。

[3]茱萸：一种香草。古时有重阳节插戴茱萸辟邪的风俗。

Alone,a lonely stranger in a foreign land,

I doubly pine for my kinsfolk on holiday.

I know my brothers would,with dogwood spray in hand,

Climb up the mountain and miss me so far away.
