月笼沙，

十年心事付琵琶。

相思懒看帏屏画，

人在天涯。

春残豆蔻花[1]，

情寄鸳鸯帕[2]，

香冷荼架[3]。

旧游台榭，

晓梦窗纱。




注释：

[1]豆蔻花：一种初夏开花的草本植物。曲中以豆蔻比喻未出嫁的少女。

[2]情寄鸳鸯帕：将情思寄托在绣着鸳鸯的巾帕上。

[3]香冷荼架：荼夏日开花，但那时已是百花凋零，荼虽然香气袭人，却难免寂寞。本句暗喻青春流逝。

The sandbar veiled in moonbeams,

I confide to my lute my tears of ten long years.

Lovesick, I will not gaze on the picturesque screen.

For far away, my love cannot be seen.

Spring wanes with cardamom flower;

I send him a lovebirds handkerchief from my bower.

Now fragrance of raspberry is cold.

Where are the scenic spots of old?

I find but window-screened morning dreams.
