静[1]女

静女其姝[2]，

俟我于城隅。

爱[3]而不见，

搔首踟蹰[4]。

静女其娈[5]，

贻我彤管。

彤管有炜[6]，

说怿[7]女美。

自牧归荑，

洵[8]美且异。

匪女之为美，

美人之贻。

娴静的姑娘惹人爱，

约我城角楼上来。

暗地里藏着不见我，

让我抓耳挠腮又徘徊。

娴静的姑娘真美丽，

送我彤管有用意。

彤管红红好光彩，

我是喜欢姑娘的美。

送我白茅牧场采，

确实美丽不平凡。

不是草儿太美丽，

美人所赠心甜蜜。

A Shepherdess[1]

A maiden mute and tall

Trysts me at corner wall.

I can find her nowhere;

Perplexed, I scratch my hair.

The maiden fair and mute

Gives me a grass-made lute.

Playing a rosy air,

I'm happier than e'er.

Coming back from the mead.

She gives me a rare reed,

Lovely not for it's rare:

It's given by the fair.
