人皆嫌[1]命窘，

谁不见钱亲？

水晶环入面糊盆[2]，

才沾粘便滚。

文章糊了盛钱囤[3]，

门庭改作迷魂阵，

清廉贬入睡馄饨，

葫芦提倒稳[4]。




注释：

[1]嫌：厌恶嫌弃。

[2]水晶环入面糊盆：一个个水晶环掉进面糊盆，不能滚动。比喻一个个聪明人陷进钱眼里，无法自拔。

[3]文章糊了盛钱囤：比喻将读书做文章当作是赚钱的工具。

[4]葫芦提倒稳：糊里糊涂，不会费心算计赚钱的日子倒是最稳当。

Poverty is disliked by all.

Is money not dear to you?

If a crystal ring in a pot of paste should fall,

Could it not be pasted in view?

If a writer advertises for a millionaire,

His soul is puzzled with money and renown.

A sleepy head cannot be fair and square,

It would be safer to hold a gourd upside down.
