葛覃

葛[1]之覃[2]兮，

施[3]于中谷，

维叶萋萋。

黄鸟于飞，

集于灌木，

其鸣喈喈。

葛之覃兮，

施于中谷，

维叶莫莫。

是刈[4]是濩[5]，

为[6]为绤[7]，

服之无[8]。

言告师氏，

言告言归。

薄污[9]我私[10]，

薄浣[11]我衣。

害浣害[12]否？

归宁[13]父母。

葛藤长长，

缠蔓山沟里，

叶子密层层。

轻飞是黄莺，

落入灌木丛，

叽叽叫不停。

割煮忙又忙，

织成粗布和细布，

穿在身上多舒畅。

向我保姆告个假，

我要回娘家。

洗了我的内衣，

洗了我的外褂。

还要洗啥，不要洗啥？

就要回家见爹妈。

In the midst of the vale.

Their leaves grow lush and sprout;

Yellow birds fly about

And perch on leafy trees.

O how their twitters please!

And make cloth coarse or fine.

Who wears it likes the vine.

I tell Mother-in-law

Soon I will homeward go.

I'll wash my undershirt

And rinse my outerskirt.

My dress cleaned, I'll appear

Before my parents dear.
