A Tryst before Dawn[1]

Before the east sees dawn,

You put on clothes upside down.

O upside down you put them on,

For orders come from ducal crown.

Before the east is bright,

You take the left sleeve for the right.

You put in left sleeve your right arm,

For orders bring disorder and alarm.

Don't leave my garden fence with willow tree;

Do not stare at my naked body, please.

You either come too late at night,

Or leave me early in twilight.

[1]A toiler complained of the early rise before dawn and the disorder brought by the order of the duke and the supervisor.
